How to create Groups

If you have a full department of employees and you want all of their phones to ring at once, you want to set up a group. Groups differ from Call Center in the fact that there is no Heads Up Display or Real-Time Monitoring available.

Step One

In order to set up or edit Groups, navigate to the Atlas portal by going to https://my.voipmd.com and click on VOIP, then Groups on the left-hand column.


Step Two

If you are creating a New Group, Click on "Add Group" in the top right of your windown.
If you are editing an existing group, click on the group name in the table below.


Step Three

Basic Information

Make sure to fill out all of the required information highlighted by a Star (*).
Name: Enter a unique name for your group
Reset Caller ID: Resets the caller ID before delivering the call
Prepend Caller ID: You can enter text here to help differentiate the caller if delivering callers from more than one number
Ring Strategy: Select the preferred ring 
      At the Same Time: Incoming calls will ring all group members at the same time
      In order: Will ring devices in the order selected below in a later step
Seconds to Ring: Default is 25 seconds. This is the time your devices will ring either at the same time or before switching to the next device user.
Inbound Call Recording: Default is NO - Set to YES to enable call recording for this group.
Note: You are responsible for adhering to your local Call Recording Laws. Only enable this feature if you are allowed to record calls.
Group Type: Default is Device Users - Set to Devices if you want to select certain devices
Repeat: Default is 0 - Set a number if you want calls to repeat their ring cycle multiple times.
After Group Forward Call: This sets the option for where the call is delivered if no one answers the call.
      None: It will simply disconnect the caller
      Check Voicemail: If you wish the caller to be able to check voicemail
      Conference: If this extension is to be used for a Conference Bridge, select this option.
      Conference Service: If this extension is to be used for a Conference Bridge, select this option.
      DISA: You must call our office before using this option - Using this will result in additional monthly billable minutes
      Device User: Sends the call to another device user (extension)
      Directory: Sends caller to the company directory
      Fax: Use this if the extension is a fax line
      Group: Sends caller to the selected ring group
      Menu: Sends caller to the selected menu.
      Outside: Sends caller to an outside line (phone number)
      PBX Connector: Sends caller to the PBX Connector
      Response Code: Rarely Used or for Integrations - Call our office before using this feature
      Time of Day: Uses the default Time of Day available hours
      Virtual Extension: Sends caller to the selected virtual extension
      Voicemail: Sends caller to the selected voicemail box. 
Play Media while Ringing: Default is No - Set to Use if you wish to deliver pre-recorded media such as a custom Music on Hold of Hold Music.
      Add New: Allows you to upload a pre-recorded voicemail greeting.
Note: Pre-Recorded greetings must not exceed 10MB and should be uploaded in a .WAV or .MP3 format only.
            Name: Provide a unique name for your pre-recorded greeting.
            Choose File: Locate the file on your local computer.
      Use Existing: If you have already uploaded media to your account, you may choose to use an existing message by selecting this option
            Media Category: Default is Voicemail Greetings
            Select Media: Select the desired media previously uploaded

Device Users

There are two columns displayed to you. On the left are all of your available device users. By clicking and dragging that Available Device User to the right to Selected Users, you are adding them to the group. Only the Device Users under Selected Users will ring in this Group.
By Clicking and dragging the Device User, you can change the order in which their devices will ring if selecting "In Order" under "Ring Strategy" above. 
To remove a user, simply click and drag the Device User from under Selected User to Available Users to the left.



Click Save
