How to add a voicemail box

Voicemail boxes are automatically created with you create a Device User. If you forgot to turn the option ON, you can manually create a voicemail box following this guide.

Step One

Make sure you log into the Atlas portal at https://my.voipmd.com, click on VOIP and then navigate to "Voicemail Boxes" in the left-hand column.


Step Two

If you are creating a NEW voicemail box, please click on "Add Voicemail Box" in the top right of the window.
If you are editing an existing Voicemail box, click on the name below in the table.



Step Three

Please fill out the required information highlighted by the Star (*).

Name: The name of the voicemail box
Assigned To: Default is Unassigned - Select the user that you wish to assign this voicemail box to.
Note: You must assign the voicemail box to a device user (extension) in order for this service to work. Leaving the box as unassigned will result in a failure and the caller being disconnected.
Voicemail Number: This should match the extension of the assigned device user. IE: Megan is Extension 101, the mailbox must be 101.
Time zone: The Default Account time zone will be filled in. If this user is working in a different time zone, select the proper time zone.
Emails to Notify: If you wish to deliver voicemails to email, please enter the email address here. You may choose to deliver voicemails to more than one email address. Please separate email addresses by comma.

Pin Number: This number is automatically generated by the system. Feel free to update this pin to anything of your choosing. Minimum passcode is four numbers.
Already Setup: Default is NO - Set to YES to skip voicemail box setup
Skip Greeting: Default is NO - Set to Yes to send callers directly to "Leave Message" without a greeting.
Note: The caller will not be prompted or informed of a voicemail message and will immediately hear the BEEP upon transfer to voicemail if set to YES.
Skin Instructions: Default is OFF - Set to ON to skip the "To leave a message, wait for the tone. For more options press Star or simply hang up" message that plays.
Delete After Notification: Default is OFF - Set to ON if you wish to delete the voicemail message from the system after it has been delivered to Email. 
Text Transcription: Default is OFF - Set to ON if you wish to enable Voicemail Transcription Services. 
Note: There is a $2 charge per transcribed message. 


Unavailable Message

This area is where you can either set an existing message, upload a new message or record a new voicemail greeting.
Add New: Allows you to upload a pre-recorded voicemail greeting.
Note: Pre-Recorded greetings must not exceed 10MB and should be uploaded in a .WAV or .MP3 format only.
      Name: Provide a unique name for your pre-recorded greeting.
      Choose File: Locate the file on your local computer.
Use Existing: If you have already uploaded media to your account, you may choose to use an existing message by selecting this option
      Media Category: Default is Voicemail Greetings
      Select Media: Select the desired media previously uploaded
Record Over Phone
In order to record your voicemail over the phone, dial your own extension from your device, desktop app or mobile app. It will prompt you for your pin. Enter your pin and then follow the prompts.


Click Save
